God’s Ways Are Perfect

By June 4, 2018No Comments

Summary of the Sermon

  1. Obeying God is obeying a perfect plan and the best thing for us. (For our own good, not to spoil the fun)
  2. We must obey God motivated by Love and gratitude for all He has done and is doing for us. (Not as a game that God will end up owing us blessings)
  3. God’s blessings are a promise to all who follow Him, but they are simply related to our obedience.

Life Group Questions

  1. If you took notes, what was the number 1 thing that you heard God speaking to you Sunday?
  2. Let’s read Deuteronomy 10:12-13 and talk about these verses. Especially the part that says that it is “for our own good” that God is asking us to do these things. (We are not doing God a favor, nor He is spoiling the fun.
    1. Question# 2: Do you have an example to share how obeying God worked for your own good.
  3. Pastor Julian mentioned that we should serve and obey God motivated by Love because love is the only motivator that lasts, all other motivations will disappoint us.
    1. Question: Have you ever got disappointed because you were motivated by anything else other than love. If so, would you like to share?
    2. How can we make sure that we keep being motivated by love and gratitude?
  4. Pastor Julian mention that God does not owe us anything ever, we owe him everything. God enjoys blessing us (His kids) but not because He owes us.
    1. How does this truth should change the ways we serve and obey Him?
  5. Pastor Julian also explained how the blessings of God are related to our obedience in that area. He used the example of the kid asking the parents “what do I get for brushing my teeth? A Toy?” Parent’s answer: “No, you get your teeth!” We as Christian should understand the simple results of obeying God in an area.
    1. Question: What comes to mind as we talk about the blessings of obedience.
      1. Example: What do we get as we forgive? A clean heart
      2. What do we get if we get married to a Christian? A perfect marriage? No, we get a Christian spouse. Someone to pray with and for us, to raise kids according to God, to come to church with,…
      3. What do we get as we work as if we are working unto the Lord? Working hard, and honestly. We keep our jobs, we will have God’s peace, and joy.
