Life Group Questions:
Preacher: Pastor Julian Malotti
Title: Pillar #3: We Are a Work in Progress
Sermon Series: Pillars
-
- This week, Pastor Julian stated the third pillar of our faith: That we are still a work in progress. In other words, nobody here on earth is done yet or has finished what God has called them to do because they are still here on earth (Philippians 3:12-14).
What do you think this means for your life specifically? Have you ever thought that God was done with you here on earth? Why did you think that?

- One of the ways we love/serve God is by obeying Him (John 14:21). However, a tempting thought to have is that God now owes us something because we love/serve (obey) Him.
Have you ever thought God owed you something? Is it possible to serve/love God with pure motives? What does that look like?

- Since we are still a work in progress, we often complain when unfortunate situations come into our lives. Not only do we complain, we question God’s goodness because of it.
Why is it so tempting to blame God and His goodness every time something annoying, sad, or bad happens in our lives? What are some good ways to protect our thoughts during those moments?

- One way to protect our thoughts when we want to complain or blame God, is by turning every complaint into a prayer. Pastor Julian reminded us that complains have zero value or substance, they are empty words. Prayer though, has power/life.
Discuss as a group some common ways people complain and what it looks like to turn that into prayer? For help, think about typical complaints from spouses, kids, bosses, etc.

- Lastly, we saw that it’s not even enough to complain to God (although it’s okay to be real with Him because He knows our hearts anyways). In other words, we can’t just complain to God all the time and then when He speaks, we still complain instead of move in faith toward the deliverance.
Think about some ways (you don’t have to share with others) that you feel like you have complained to God about a lot. Now, think about some ways you think He may have given you direction (or maybe He still is). What are you going to do about it?
