Life Group Questions

1.     How did God speak to you through Sunday’s corporate gathering?  Was it in the fellowship you had with one another, the worship time, the sermon, or the prayer time?  What did God say to you?
2.     Read Hebrews 10:23-25 & Galatians 6:2.  Why is it so important that we do not stop gathering together and encouraging each other?  What are the benefits of gathering together in genuine Christian community and similarly what are the dangers of not gathering together?  Think of the analogy of a soldier or the analogy of a piece of a puzzle reflecting the image of Christ.
3.     On Sunday Pastor Joe said that, “The majority of God’s church (universal) has diminished the call of God upon their lives as an extra circular activity that is given time and resources as they are available after work, family, and pursuit of our own personal agenda.  This lifestyle and attitude as servants of Christ is sin.”  Do you agree or disagree with this statement?  How does this view reflect in our commitment to foster genuine Christian community?
4.     Read Romans 12:3-5.   Do you believe that you are an essential part of the body of Christ?  Do you believe that you belong to others?  How does that “practically” look like to “belong” to others?  (Read Philippians 2:1-8).
5.     In Philippians 2:2 we read that we are to be like minded, being one of spirit and one of mind.  Does that mean we are to be best friends with every Christian?  How does the analogy of a soldier help explain this?
6.     Read Romans 12:5-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:15-16.  What spiritual gift do you have?  How are you serving the body of Christ with your spiritual gift?  (If you do not know your spiritual gift, you can find a spiritual gift test at OB1’s website).   Why is it so important that we are all utilizing our spiritual gift?
7.     What are some barriers you personally have to fostering genuine Christian community?  For example, fear, hurt, guilt, work, hobbies, family, sports, etc.  Are you willing to work on removing those barriers?  What steps are you going to do to foster more genuine Christian community in your life?
8.     Take some time and pray for one another that God would foster and create genuine unity in your life group and at OB1 Church.  Pray for an out pouring of the Holy Spirit.
