Life Group Questions—Breakthrough (Beyond fear to faith)
1. How did this sermon speak to you?
2. What are your greatest fears and how is God asking you to take a step of faith?
3. Read Mark 5:21-24. Jarius was a Synagogue ruler, a Pharisee. His sect hated Jesus and what Jesus stood for. Yet, Jarius was willing to humble himself and lay down his way, in order to experience the power of God and healing for his daughter. How is God asking you to humble yourself and lay down “your way” in order to experience the power of God in your life at this moment?
4. Read Mark 5:24-34. In this section, we read how a first-century Jewish woman was willing to risk her life and press through the crowd to be healed and touch Jesus. What “metaphorical” crowds or barriers are before you that you need to press through to experience a breakthrough of God’s power in your life? Are you willing to risk everything to experience the power of God in your life?
5. Read Mark 5:35-36. How do you think Jarius felt at this moment? Why did Jesus not instantaneously heal Jarius daughter? He could have.
6. In Mark 5:36 Jesus tells Jarius to not be afraid but just believe. How is God telling you to not be afraid and just believe? Maybe you feel that your situation in life right now is impossibleBreakthrough—beyond Fear to Faith when God is telling you to do not be afraid but just believe? To experience a breakthrough of God’s power we often have to wait upon God and trust in Him even when things seem impossible. We have to hold on to God’s promises and just believe. What promises is God asking you to hold on to right now? In what way is God asking you to not be afraid but just believe?
7. It is normal to face fears. But what you do with your fears is what counts. Spend some time praying for each other that each person may move beyond fear to faith and experience a breakthrough of God’s power. Pray for one another that you each person may be able to:
a) Humble themselves and go before Jesus
b) Press through the barriers and be willing to risk everything to experience that breakthrough power.
c) Hold on to God’s promises even in the darkest of hours.
