Christmas: Preparing for…

Delivered by Pastor Kris

Passages Used: Luke 2:8-21
Today’s Questions: How do we handle spreading good news?
As a group, open up by reading together.
Person 1: Luke 2:8-10
Person 2: Luke 2:11-13
Person 3: Luke 2:14-17
Person 4: Luke 2:18-21
Pray for God to guide your conversation together, & for the Holy Spirit to give wisdom & insight.
Q1: Good News is fun to share
  • Name a time when you couldn’t wait to share something great with someone else.
  • What made it so fun to share?
Q2: Who is worthy to speak?
Pastor Kris reminded us that the shepherds were an unusual choice for God’s first messengers.
  • What would you do if one of the street-sweeper drivers was coming down your street, stopped at your house & knocked on your door saying they had a message from God for you?
  • Would you believe them? Would you be skeptical? Would you open the door?
  • Why do you think God likes to use unlooked for people to serve as His messengers?
Q3: The story-carriers
The pathway for a Christian includes being a bit of a story teller. You and I have something amazing, healing & hope-filled to share.
  • Have you ever had to share life-changing news with someone?
  • Was it good? Hard? A raise/promotion came? That you had to move away?
  • How does it feel to carry life-changing news?
Q4: We have something great to share
Pastor Kris took us on a digital mission trip during the service.
  • How can you use social media, texting, or a phone call to reach out to others?
  • Have you ever used your Facebook/Instagram/Twitter feed like a prayer list?
Q5: Good News is never an inconvenience
We know that the Gospel is good news, right?
If you knew the way out of a burning building, you’d consider that to be good news, right?
Would it feel like an imposition to tell them how -not- to die? Of course not!
  • As a group, read through the Apostle’s creed. It’s a historic statement of faith for Christians everywhere.

  • If you know this much, you know enough to share Jesus with absolutely anyone. Don’t let imposter syndrome/fear keep you from showing the Way of Life.
Point of Prayer for our Small Group: Pray over the areas that the people within your small group serve within, let different people choose one area (not their own) to pray over.
